A delegation from the Republic of China met with Facebook's top management at its headquarters in California earlier this week to discuss issues related to the development of the global digital economy and the safety of networking. This was stated by the National Communications Commission of Taiwan.

The delegation was chaired by the Minister without Portfolio Audrey Tang, Chan Ting-I, Chairman of the National Communications Commission and Commissioner Chen Yu - ning. They met senior executives from the company, including Elliot Sharj, vice president of global communications, marketing and public policy.

In a statement published on its official Facebook page, Tang says the visit demonstrates the commitment of the government of the Republic of China to the development of the digital economy in the country.

In turn, Chan said Facebook actively participates in network security research and cooperation, and exchanges with company executives will help strengthen public-private regulatory mechanisms and the development of the digital economy.

According to the National Communications Commission, in an effort to address online safety and network security issues, the government has organized discussions and forums with the public and private sectors and has been cooperating with non-governmental organizations such as the Child Welfare League Foundation and the Salvation Foundation of women, to promote online safety.
